About This Course
Our Parenting for Faith course is a self-paced short course designed to stretch, inform and inspire as those questions are explored. It is designed for those working in a professional or voluntary capacity with children, young people, and families in churches. This course will equip you to successfully support parents and carers as they disciple their children and explore what parenting for faith might look like in your church and community.
What is it to share Christian faith within the family? How can we better parent the children of our communities to grow in God, or as adults accompany children on the Christian journey? What can it mean for the Church to support a family and have effective input into young people’s lives? How can we develop confidence in parents around prayer and the sharing of the Bible story?
This short course will help people working with children, youth and families in their churches and communities learn how to position themselves for maximum impact; develop foundational values and practices to operate out of, and establish practical steps to shape a culture where parenting for faith can flourish.
Subject areas include:
- the current crisis in spiritual parenting
- an overview of Parenting for Faith and its five key tools
- skills and values you need to successfully support your families
- Parenting for Faith in children’s and youth work and intergenerational spaces
- working with your church and planning your next steps.

Becky Sedgwick is the Parenting for Faith local coordinator, having joined the Parenting for Faith team in April 2017.
Before this, she was a children and families' worker for nine years at St James’ Church, Devizes, where she ran Parenting for Faith courses.
A long time ago, Becky got a degree in theology. Before St James’, she worked in all sorts of non-theological places – at the Bank of England, as a PA to a millionaire, in a small company’s sales office and then as an admin officer for a primary school.
She lives in Devizes with her daughter Hannah and an annoying small dog, Max. She spends her spare time playing at and coaching the wonderful Devizes Netball Club..
Rachel is the Parenting for Faith pioneer at BRF. God gave her the vision for Parenting for Faith in 2005 in response to a need in her local church, and it has grown from there.
She has worked in a variety of churches as a family life pastor, children's pastor and youth pastor since 2004. She consults, speaks at conferences and runs training days for parents and church leaders around the UK and Europe.
Rachel moved to the UK from southern California in 2002 and now lives in Yorkshire with her husband and son. She once taught herself Irish Gaelic for three years for fun and is fascinated with obscure history. Her love language is new and beautiful stationery.
